Sharp Edge Grip

Sharp edge 1 To grip a sharp blade, you must make sure your fingers do not wrap around the edge! This grip is not as easy to use as the hammer grip, but it must be learned well if one is to throw sharp edged knives.
Blade hammer grip The thumb side of the sharp blade grip. The placement of the thumb can make a considerable difference in the knife's rotation rate. Pull it back against the hand to speed it, extend it towards the tip to slow it down.
